S Weissbart

IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS

Discover the details that make all the difference.

A Tradition in Our Family

Saul Weissbart began as a diamond polisher at the age of 15, starting his career in a factory in Clerkenwell during the 1940s. In 1958, he became independent as a polisher. During his time in the polishing business, Saul gained the trust of highly esteemed individuals who were glad to support his efforts in building his career.

Due to his honest reputation, clients began turning to Saul for their diamond sourcing needs as did established dealers, some of whom also backed him financially. Saul joined The London Diamond Bourse in 1965 and served on its board for more than twenty years in various capacities, influencing the policies of London’s diamond market. After standing down from the board, he was made a Life Vice President in recognition of his contribution to the diamond trade.

Renowned for his dry sense of humour, many people still walk into the office quoting his jokes. Saul was interviewed by Rachel Lichtenstein for her book Diamond Street: The Hidden World of Hatton Garden which was published in 2012, an intriguing exploration of London’s diamond district, where she devoted an entire chapter to his life and memoirs.
