Beyond the 4Cs: Why Certification and Confidence Matter
When it comes to sourcing diamonds, most jewellers know the Four Cs: Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat weight. At S Weissbart, we believe there are two more Cs that matter just as much—Certification and Confidence.
As a second-generation, family-run diamond business, our foundations are built on trust, transparency and long-term relationships. Many of our clients have worked with us for decades, and it’s their ongoing confidence in how we operate that motivates us to maintain high standards in everything we do.
If you’re new to working with us, here’s how we aim to earn your trust.
Responsible Jewellery Council Certification
Sourcing responsibly is not just important—it’s essential. One way we demonstrate our commitment is through our membership with the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), the leading standards-setting organisation for sustainability in the jewellery and watch industries.
The RJC’s Code of Practices (COP) sets out detailed standards covering responsible supply chains, human rights, environmental impact and ethical business conduct.
In 2022, after independent audits at our London and Birmingham offices, we were certified under the COP 2019 standard. We’re currently in the process of being re-certified under the updated COP 2024 and the Laboratory Grown Material Standard—another step in our ongoing effort to meet evolving industry expectations.
Certification vs Confidence
But what does certification actually mean in practice?
For us, it’s not just about having a certificate on the wall. It’s a reflection of how we run our business—through regular reviews, risk assessments and a commitment to policies that support responsible sourcing, product integrity and human rights.
For our clients, it offers reassurance. It means the diamonds you source from us come through a business that is held to recognised, independently verified standards. And for your customers, it helps strengthen trust—from source to showroom.
We know many of our clients already value these principles, and we aim to support you in being transparent about where your diamonds come from—without making bold claims or overpromising. Responsible practice is a shared responsibility, and we're committed to doing our part.
Looking Ahead, Grounded in Our Values
We understand that doing things the way they've always been done isn't enough anymore. That doesn’t mean leaving tradition behind—it means carrying it forward with awareness and accountability.
By aligning with the RJC’s Code of Practices and Laboratory Grown Material Standard, we hope to give our customers added peace of mind when sourcing diamonds—knowing they’re working with a business committed to responsibility without compromising on quality or service.
We remain deeply committed to the values that have shaped our business for generations, while continuing to evolve and do due diligence in every area we operate.
If we haven’t worked together before, we’d be happy to hear from you. And if you’re one of our long-standing clients—thank you. We're proud to keep earning your trust.
